1. Who We Are

RemedyReadings Limited ("RemedyReadings," "we," "us," or "our"), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17338081, is the data controller responsible for your personal data collected through remedyreadings.com (the "Platform").

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your data, you can contact us at [email protected].

2. What Personal Data We Collect From You

As a customer of the Platform, we collect:

  1. Your name, chosen nickname, email address, and date of birth (to verify you are 18+);
  2. Your password (stored securely, never in plain text);
  3. Your wallet top-up and transaction history (payment card details themselves are handled directly by our payment processor — we do not store your full card details);
  4. The content of chat messages and call recordings from sessions you take part in, and session metadata (duration, cost, time, which Reader you spoke with);
  5. Reviews you submit;
  6. Your phone number, if you opt in to SMS alerts for favourited Readers;
  7. Technical data such as your IP address and browser type, collected automatically for security and to keep the Platform working correctly.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data to:

  1. Create and manage your account;
  2. Connect you with Readers and facilitate chat and call sessions;
  3. Process your wallet top-ups;
  4. Send you service-related communications (e.g. session confirmations, password resets);
  5. Send SMS alerts, but only if you have opted in;
  6. Investigate reports of misconduct and keep the Platform safe;
  7. Comply with our legal obligations (e.g. financial record-keeping).

4. Our Legal Basis for Processing

  1. Contract — processing necessary to provide the service you've signed up for (account management, billing, sessions);
  2. Legitimate interests — for keeping the Platform secure, preventing fraud, and moderating reported content;
  3. Consent — for optional SMS alerts, which you can withdraw at any time;
  4. Legal obligation — where we're required to keep certain records (e.g. for tax/accounting purposes).

5. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in securely and to protect against certain security attacks. These are required for the Platform to work and don’t need your consent.

If you accept advertising cookies via the cookie banner shown on your first visit (or later, using the "Cookie preferences" link in the site footer), we also use tracking scripts from Google (Google Ads), Meta (Facebook/Instagram), and TikTok. These let us measure whether someone who saw one of our ads later visited the Platform or topped up their wallet, so we know which ads are working. We only tell these providers that a visit happened and, for a completed top-up, that a purchase happened and its value. We do not send them your name, email address, or anything about the content of your readings.

If you reject, or haven’t yet made a choice, none of these scripts run and none of these cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the site footer.

6. Who We Share Your Data With

We share limited personal data with trusted third-party service providers who help us run the Platform, strictly for the purposes described in this policy:

  1. A payment processor, to handle wallet top-up payments securely. We do not see or store your full card number.
  2. A calling and messaging provider, to enable call functionality and send SMS alerts, where used.
  3. An email delivery provider, to send password-reset and other transactional emails.
  4. A hosting provider, which stores our application data securely.
  5. Advertising partners (Google, Meta, TikTok), but only if you accept advertising cookies via our cookie banner — see Section 5 (Cookies) above for exactly what we share with them.

We do not sell your personal data to anyone, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

7. International Data Transfers

Some of our service providers (listed above) may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards required under UK data protection law (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to ensure your data remains protected to a UK standard.

8. How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep your personal data for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to comply with our legal, accounting, or reporting obligations. If you close your account, we will retain the minimum data necessary (e.g. transaction records) for as long as required by law, and remove or anonymise the rest.

9. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  1. Access the personal data we hold about you;
  2. Ask us to correct inaccurate data;
  3. Ask us to delete your data, in certain circumstances;
  4. Ask us to restrict or object to certain processing;
  5. Request a copy of your data in a portable format;
  6. Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent (e.g. SMS alerts);
  7. Complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk, if you believe we have not handled your data properly.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].

10. Data Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including using secure connections and requiring two-factor authentication for administrator access to our systems.

11. Children's Privacy

The Platform is strictly for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have done so, we will delete it promptly.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date.
